It's begining to look a lot like Christmas

Hey Strangers,

It’s time again for another little blog post, trying to keep you all up to speed with what’s been ‘goin on’ for us in the roastery these last few weeks.

I also wanted to take the opportunity to mention product price increases and why they’re happening.

So it’s nearing the end of November and I can’t believe we’re still sampling new seasons crops, which are only just landing in the UK now. I’m really glad we’ve waited though because the late arrival’s we’re tasting are showing some amazing promise, and we’re excited about getting them in the roastery soon.

Now I can’t do an update without mentioning a few new coffees which have already hit our shelves.

First up a Strangers favourite, Costa Rica natural, San Francisco and wow, the farmers efforts this year are outstanding! We buy this crop most years and I’m super impressed this time, next to no defects, and really even bean size make this a pleasure to roast and the resulting cup is juicy, sweet and full bodied.

Of course with the festive period ahead, we see the return of our annual released, limited edition, Christmas Blend! Ho ho ho!

A blend of Costa Rican and Ethiopia naturally processed coffee brings flavours of orange and cranberry to get you in the Christmas mood.

Last up hitting our shelves December 1st is our Christmas classic roast, our Boozy Santa Blend.

For this special roast we actually macerate the green beans in alcohol before roasting. This leaves a wonderful memory of the booze behind, just the thing to get you through Xmas morning.

Now unfortunately I have to mention dreaded price increases.

Believe me we don’t want to have to do this at such a difficult time, financially, for so many but with ongoing increases for us we’re left with little choice but to pass some of this on to you.

This year saw a massive hike in the prices of green beans, up by 60% at its highest point.

Biodegradable packaging up by 50% effecting both our disposable cups and coffee bags.

Living wages for our staff are up and will be increasing again next year.

Fuel costs as everyone knows, are ever increasing at the moment, not only effecting the running cost of our shops and roastery but courier charges we in-cure moving product around the world.

Of course these aren’t all the reasons effecting us at the moment but outline some of the main factors for the increasing prices and our ongoing commitment to high grade, ethically sourced coffee.

Anyway I hope the festive period treats everyone well and we hope to see you all soon at your nearest Strangers!

Until next time, happy brewing. Peace. ✌️
